This guide outlines the steps for marketers to successfully create and integrate their Retargeting campaigns within Singular using Smadex. It is fundamental to follow these steps in order to correctly set retargeting users and correct attribution settings.
A great part of this guide is inspired by Singular’s documentation as most of the settings must be done on their site.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
An active Singular account.
An active Smadex account with access to campaign management.
Enable non-attributed data sharing.
An integration done between Smadex and Singular, with a given Tracking Group ID.
In case an integration has already been done for Mobile UA campaigns,
Tracking Group ID will be the same as in that integration.
Step 1: Enable re-engagement settings
Sign in in Singular and select your own account.
Select Smadex from the list.
Besides all postback configuration, ensure to have the re-engagement boxes ticked:

Select the desired configuration for your account related to re-engegements:

Step 2.1: (optional) Prepare your deeplink
When you create a tracking link for your app, you can configure it to be a deep link. With a deep link, if a user clicks the ad and they already have your app installed, not only will the app open - but it will show the specific app content of your choice. Thus, not just the app's default screen.
Singular Links have the following structure, where [SUBDOMAIN] is chosen by you:
https://[SUBDOMAIN].sng.link/[PARAMETERS]
If you don't have any domains set up yet, you have to create at least one in order to start creating Singular Links. To do so:
Log into your Singular account and go to Attribution > Manage Links.
Click Manage Link Domains.
You can create a single domain (e.g., the name of your company or app) and use it for all your links, or you can create several to use for different purposes.
As the developers implement the SDK, they add code that identifies if the app has been opened through a deep link and directs the user to the appropriate app screen or content (step-by-step guides for developers are available for Android, iOS, Unity, React).
Once your engineering team is done implementing the SDK, they can give you:
The deep link scheme you will be using for this app (per platform).
You need to enter this information in the Apps page in the next step.
A list of deep link destinations (URLs) to use when you set up your Singular Links.
Depending on your app's platform(s) and the technology that your engineering team used to implement deep linking, there may be some information you need to enter in the Apps page (Settings > Apps).
Step 2.2: Set your Apps page
This information should be given to you by your engineering team.
Log into your Singular account and go to Settings > Apps.
Find your app in the list and expand the details.
For Android: enter the Android App Scheme.
For iOS: enter the Team ID.
If your app has more than one app site (meaning that it is available for more than one platform), enter the necessary information in each of them.
Optionally, you can add the deep link destinations created kto your app settings in the Apps page for easy access. This way, whenever you create new tracking links, these destinations will appear in the drop-downs for you to choose from. To do so:
Log into your Singular account and go to the Apps page.
Find your app in the list and expand the details.
Under Destinations, add the deep link URLs, each in a separate row, and click Save.

Step 2.3: Build your link
Go under Attribution Setup - Manage Links. Then, click Create Link. For Link Type, choose Partner. For Source Name, choose "Smadex" from the dropdown menu. For Tracking Link Name, enter a descriptive title for the tracking link to easily tell apart from any other links you might have under the app.

Click Attribution Settings and toggle on Enable re-engagement tracking and check that the configurations below are correct.

In the Link Settings and Redirects section, after you enable the link for iOS, Android, or both, fill out the following fields:
If the app is not installed go to" (this is the fallback redirect)
If the app is already installed, go to: (deep link)
After installation, go directly to: (deferred deep link)
Review link and click done.
Step 3: Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
Share your OneLink Impression attribution Link with Smadex, ensuring you have NAD enabled. Smadex will perform a test install to confirm everything is in place.
In case the test install is not successful, either the initial integration is not correct, or any step of this guide was not applied correctly. Review all the steps and make sure it’s all in place. You can also check the following links for setting your links correctly:
